Britek PS-200B battery compartment

Studio lights offer many advantages over speedlights, but taking them away from mains power requires bulky battery packs or generators. At the time of writing we don’t know of any other monolights with integral batteries on the market. If you know of one, let us know in the comments below.

The 5 seconds recycle time is pretty slow. But its impressive to be able to use AA batteries. I think its best for it to also be able to accept bigger battery pack like the tradition bulky ones and/or canon/nikon’s flash battery packs. And leave AA battery powered option as the last resort.

Looks like a nice hybrid between speedlights and studio strobes. Would be fantastic for location shoots.

    >>> Full and half power settings

    That’s somewhat limiting.

  4. Ed says:

This is forward thinking! lighting manufacturers should stop using hot shoe strobes designs they are limiting, cumbersome and limit a lot the modifiers you can use with them.

    Dear Britek,

Great idea! Can you vary the flash output more ( 1/1 – 1/64 )?
If so, I luv you forever.

    Thanks,
    V. B.

Great idea, poor execution. Give me the same thing with more stops of control and faster recycle and you got a deal!

been using this portable strobe light for few months now, so far I like it. I used it for umbrella mostly. I’m not sure what kind of interface on the head. Does anyone know what interface it is so I can get some light modifier attachemnt?

Can someone give me some insight about this is it worth buying I need light weight light weight kit to travel with main for filler light on location shoot I don’t see a softbox kit offer can you use a universal speedring with this also where do you get a 60v Hi-capacitor power pack

  9. rj says:

my 6 months old Britek PS200B stop working last week. It fired the flash twice and stop firing, both DC nor AC. Used it for half a dozen shoots or so. Oh well… $70 strobe, what do you expect? It works great when it works, put out plenty of good light.
