For Canon something must have/had happned that all and most manufactures will come out with e-ttl functions, probably they decoded the new 600 EX-RT and this is how they did it, with Nikon they have nothing to decode/use/copy.
Wedding season starts a bit later for me so i have some time to wait for new triggers but i doubt nikon version will come.
Pocketwizard is a different story, they have the money to R&D this stuff and come up with own design even if there is no canon/nikon equivalent to copy.

Yes, Pixel got lazy and didn't impliment the Nikon version as thoroughly. An SB800/900/910 are master devices exactly the same as Canons 580/600 are. Nikons STE3 performs the same function as Canons STE2.

Nikon have also supported this via the popup flash for many years. This is a bonus extra feature, not the only way of doing it.

Only a couple of Canons newest cameras have a pop up that works as a master unit e.g. the 7D. It would have been great on the 5D series too... except that Canon chose not to provide a pop up flash on those cameras.

Not sure I understand your comment here. Not trying to be a troll really... I mean of course the CLS is meant for off camera flashes, not like we need anything fancy for popup flashes... One can always dial the power and config using the dedicated button and the rest is available on the LCS menu.

What about the Aokatec AK-TTL? I use them with my D800's built-in commander flash, and they work perfectly. I set power levels and groups from my camera's menu, and leave the slaves set to remote. Works perfectly.
