Nissin MG8000 Extreme slated for October release

The “machine gun” MG8000 flashgun — capable of firing 1,000 full power shots without overheating — will be blasting its way on to shelves this autumn. The Japanese speedlight manufacturer Nissin Digital have announced the release date for the device to be in October 2012.

Nissin MG8000 Extreme

Though the head lacks a built-in, flip-out wide-angle diffuser, one will be included in the box. Coupled with an external battery pack (such as Nissin’s own PS300), the firm claims the MG8000 will deliver “blazing fast” speeds and “extreme” performance for professional photography applications.

HUmmm would love one to try out see if it really can pop that fast.whats the GN ?

  • http://www.bencer.pl Marcin

Canon and Nikon should work like this !

  • Zs

    GN will be 60

I bought a Nissin Di866 following similar world beating claims and in my experience it was a poor product with non existent customer service

  • Zesix

Keith, you are correct about Nissin & their customer supports.

Purchased 3 Nissin Di622 and two won’t come on after 3 months & 1 blown tube.
Purchased 5 Nissin Di866 Mark II (Professional) won’t come on & warped Fresnel.
They claimed the Di866 Mark II is a professional flash. Using NiZn works great on our Vivitar 285HV and Metz 54MZ-4 but kill Nissin flashes.
Nissin USA will not repair them because I purchased them all in Japan.

The claimed Machine Gun flash, our Nissin MG8000 Extreme Flash problems:
    1. One has blown up do to fluid got into the air vent grills. Anyone shooting weddings
would understand about toasting the couple.
    2. Second one dies.

    Nissin MG8000 Extreme Flash + Nissin PS-300 Battery Pack = ¥ 95168 plus
Plus 4AA Energizer Lithium Batteries. That’s over $1,300.00 USD!

Nissin MG8000 Extreme Flash with Powergenix 4AA NiZn dies = ¥ 49167 plus

Here is what Nissin don’t want you to know.
    1. Use NiZn and Nissin won’t repair your flash.
That’s what happened when you are being honest & told the truth, after supporting
    Nissin.
    2. Flash is not weather seals. For sure not for Dom Perignon & Rothschild.
    3. You CAN NOT get 1 second full power flash recycle without the Nissin PS-300.
    4. Even with the PS-300 attached, you CAN NOT fire rapidly, as soon as the Green
Light is on, when on ASA/ISO 100, 1/1 power or set at F11+ for over 80 shots.
Nissin PS-300 will not work on Quantum QFlash. Big drawback!
Quantum Turbo Battery Pack works on Nissin MG8000 Extreme. Expensive!!
ATG Elite Gold Battery Pack works on Quantum QFlash, Canon, Nikon, Nissin
and Sony flashes. Has long as the flash has HV Port you can use any HV pack.
My staff and I prefer the ATG.
    5. Can not use & sync with our ATG Canon EOS-1D C and Canon EOS-1D X.
    6. It works fine on our Hasselblad H4D but Nissin don’t want you to know. In Auto &
    manual modes for on locations.
    7. So great about the 2 years warranty. We travels around the world for our clients.
    8. Nissin dealers are trained to use tactics, “Pre-order & Out-of-Stock”. When they
never have a single one since February 2012.
    9. This flash will not get into your hands until 2013. Introduce or Introduction means
it not in stores but they have all your information.
    10. This flash will not work on Canon XL-1/XL-2/XL H1/C300/C500.
Can’t understand why not, those pins are the same as Canon EX flashes, right?
    11. Won’t sell you parts like ATG, Canon & Nikon.
    12. Pray that Nissin will support you if you travels out of your country.
    11. At the Photokina 2012, I tested it out at ASA/ISO25, 1/1, PS-300 and inserted
NiZn. Guess what happened? Then I showed mine.

    FYI:
Canon XL series can shoot still photos using Canon flashes, but not Nissin.
Canon EOS-C series can shoot still if it’s modified.
My baby, ATG Canon EOS-1D C can shoot down at ASA/ISO 12!
I have a ATG Sony NEX-VG20 & use it with Nissin MG8000 Extreme (Sony) without any problem. The basic lens is F6.3 which is very slow and the flash helps
But when we need the speed, then the flash is not so great on Canon. I would think that would be the same when using Nikon D4.

ATG has modified systems & equipment.
They do mod, services and repairs my equipment.
They do not have a website. Because they do not need one.

This flash look just like my defective my flash, Nissin Di866 Mark II for Nikon.
Except Nissin has found out how bad these are by chopping off the head and added a new head.

I wonder if that secondary flash can burst like the main head, since they called it, “Machine Gun”?

I’ve checked and Keith F & Zesix are correct on just about everything.
Stores are posting “Out-of-Stock” and many want your money & complete address.
I just seen B&H Photos is doing the same thing.

The cost is well over $1,300.00. Many photographers already have the QFlash/Turbo.
No fool is going to buy a $600 dollars battery that will not work on Qflash.

These are questions that I have asked:
    1. How many time can you shoot full power with battery pack until overheat symbol
sign display if you set ISO 100, without resting the flash?
    2. Is the Di866 Mark II differ from MG8000 Extreme is just the flash head?
    3. Where can I purchase parts when needed?

    Nissin gave me nothing.

Maybe Nissin is copying Pocket Wizard by not assisting and helping devoted customers.

David & Keith & Zesix, thank you for writing about this flash as well into this forum.

Now, B&H Photos has changed to “Back Ordered”.

Nissin sites stated “coming soon” since February 2012.

Bet you it will be out on 2013.

The set is going to be over $1,200.00 USD!

Anyone got money that I can burrow due to the depression with hundred thousand layoffs in USA?

Let’s hope 13 is not a bad luck number.

  • Frank

Apparently the Nissin MG8000 Extreme first batch has only one quartz flashtube.
You can not get 1 second full recycle from those 4AA.
The 4AA can still get very hot.
You will need that $550 plus Nissin Power Pack for quick recycles.

Nissin is not telling. But the badge show “Quartz Tube”.
You know this flash has 2 flashtubes, right?

Photo stores will pull a quick one on us, by saying, “Out-of-stock or Back-ordered” after October 26, 2012.

Nissin’s ad still been using “Coming Soon”. That’s almost a year!

Nissin will have no choices but to lower this flash because Quantum Trio has gone down to $645.00 USD.
Metz 76MZ-5 will do the same while we Americans are in a depression.
And the holidays are coming with many employees getting pink slips.

Many photo studios & full time photographers are closing/shutting down or leaving this field.

    Asking $629.00 USD is high.
Supports from Nissin was never good when photographers needed them.
Even Canon 600EX-RT was lowered because nobody is buying.

At $629, you can buy a used car and get to work & make money.

Here are your choices if you need a nice flash:
    1. Canon 600EX for $475.00
    2. Nikon SB-910 for $550.00
    3. Canon 600EX-RT for $557.00
    4. Nissin MG8000 Extreme for $629.00
    5. Quantum Trio for $645.00
    6. Metz 76MZ-5 for $950.00

I don’t like the Trio because it needs the Turbo Battery at all time.
It can not zoom. But it’s good when you need bare bulb.
I just hate the weak hotshoe.

I don’t like the 76MZ-5 because it only use their AA battery.
I have problem placing my wireless radio trigger.

If you need good portable flash for heavy daily usages, then go for Quantum or Metz.
