Shade your laptop screen on location with new i-Visor case

Seaport Digital, an American company based in Illinois, have announced a new laptop case. The i-Visor Pro LSP acts as a shade for your monitor, making it easier to read in bright sunlight or under intense studio lamps. Taking pictures at night, it can work the other way round, preventing light from your screen spilling out and ruining your night vision.

Buying the new i-Visor case, you won’t get much change from US$200. But this isn’t just any ordinary case. You pay the premium for an accessory optimised for photography and astronomy. A built-in “HD Support Platform” lets you mount your laptop (up to 17″) on a tripod, making it easier to perform tethered shooting anywhere.

The Platform can be removed to save weight. Other useful features include a waterproof cover, dark cloth, shoulder strap and side pockets for extra accessories.

It’s tough to see from the photos how easy it is to attach the power cable, and any other USB or FW cables you might need to attach. Is there a zippered area on the left side to accommodate?

I asked Seaport and they said:

Thanks for the question. The Pro LSP has two cable passthroughs built into the visor – one on either side. They are fabric flaps that can be secured by Velcro. When the computer is placed on the support risers, cables can easily pass through the openings.

Another case of ours, the Pro LS, has “grommet-like” passthroughs on the bottom of the case in addition to the passthroughs on the visor. Some customers prefer having this option as well. We are looking to incorporate these into future models of the Pro LSP. The Pro LS is similar in fashion to the LSP; the biggest difference being no built in support platform. However, our OS Platform w/ Tray can be attached via the straps built-into the bottom of the LS, and packed away with the LS case. Here is a link to the Pro LS (http://www.seaportdigital.com/ivisor-pro-ls-p-36.html) pictures 11 and 12 show the grommet like passthrough for this one. Some photographers that do not like to use the support risers, prefer these grommets for cable management.
