New modules for the PocketWizard ControlTL system have been announced, allowing you to remotely control the power of Alien Bees and Elinchrom RX lights.

Press release: South Burlington, VT – ControlTL™ was launched originally as a solution for wireless radio TTL flash control, but it was designed with much more in mind.  The PowerST4 and AC9 AlienBees Adapter open the door to studio flash photographers and the amazing benefits of remote power control of the ControlTL system.  Now studio flash photographers can adjust their lighting directly from the camera position, even with lights from different companies or mixing studio flash with Speedlites.

The PowerST4 Receiver is designed specifically for Elinchrom RX series lights* and provides remote power control capabilities when paired with an on-camera MiniTT1™ Transmitter or FlexTT5™ Transceiver.  Power settings on your flash are adjusted simply by using the flash compensation dial on your camera or add the AC3 ZoneController to get three independent zones of power control capability.  Once your flash settings are dialed in, ControlTL PowerTracking allows you to change shutter speed, f-stop and ISO and the system will automatically adjust power levels to maintain proper exposure. This elegant little receiver draws power from the flash and doesn’t need a battery.  Using the PocketWizard Utility and USB connection, you can
fine-tune the initial power settings, program your modeling light shut-off timing, change channels, or update your firmware.
* (NOTE: Ranger RX, Speed and Speed AS requires EL-Skyport Transceiver RX Adapter)

The AC9 AlienBees Adapter slides into the top shoe of a FlexTT5 Transceiver and then attaches to an AlienBees or White Lighting™ studio light via the remote jack on the light.  Once connected and paired with a transmitting MiniTT1 or FlexTT5, you have single zone remote power control via the flash compensation dial on your camera or three-zone power control with the AC3 ZoneController on your transmitting MiniTT1 or FlexTT5.

Both products are in final firmware testing now.  Production of the PowerST4 is almost complete and will be shipping in June.  The AC9 AlienBees Adapter is scheduled for production in June and should be available in July.

PocketWizard has been making wireless photo control systems for the professional and enthusiast photographer since the early ‘90’s.  PocketWizard radios, including the MiniTT1, FlexTT5, Plus II and MultiMAX are the choice of the pros for remote camera and flash photography.  PocketWizard products are made by LPA Design, Inc., based in South Burlington, Vermont and sold by MAC Group in the USA and authorized distributors around the world.
