The future in portable lighting?

Overall, the concept on which the CononMark DD400S is based looks like it could be the future for compact portable lighting. This particular iteration leaves a bit to be desired, however. The reflector and bayonet mount are probably the biggest dealbreakers. If the manufacturer produce a similar design but with a Bowens S mount and bare flash tube, they are surely on to a winner.

Advantages

  • Compact and lightweight
  • Simple controls
  • Standardised, lightweight battery
  • Wide range of power control

Disadvantages

  • Integral reflector
  • Comet bayonet
  • Slow flash duration
  • Build quality of accessories
