Mcoplus Diving Video LED Light

A new underwater LED panel will light up your photos and videos at depths down to 40 metres. Mcoplus, a Chinese company, have designed their Diving Video LED Light especially for underwater continuous lighting, though you can use it out of the water too.

Available in three variants: LE-120Y, LE-160Y and LE-200Y provide 1500, 2000 and 2500 lumens, respectively, while daylight-balanced at 5600K. All three are water-sealed for use at depths up (down?) to 130 feet. You can fix the panel to your camera’s underwater housing using either a standard coldshoe mount, a 1/4″ tripod screw or a GoPro-style connector. The casing is made from a “high quality aluminium alloy”.

The colour rendering index (CRI) is rated a relatively low 82; though as the full spectrum of light does not travel unimpeded through water (longer wavelengths are absorbed more quickly) even a 100-CRI LED would not give you accurate colour (interesting solution here). The light is powered by an internal rechargeable lithium battery, the charging port for which is sealed with a rubber gasket.
