Not long after Profoto brought out their ProDaylight and ProTungsten luminaires, another major European flash manufacturer, Elinchrom, have jumped on the zooming continuous lighting bandwagon.

While previous Elinchrom ScanLites have had fixed heads, the latest ScanLite Halogen is based on the recently-announced Zoom lamp heads. The light takes 300W to 650W halogen bulbs and is multi-voltage, so you need only change the bulbs and fuses over when travelling between 110V and 230V countries.

With a 300W bulb installed, the ScanLite is rated safe to use with most Elinchrom softboxes, reflectors and umbrellas. At 650W, most metal reflectors can be used but the manufacturer recommends against the use of softboxes and umbrellas.

The lamps will be available separately or in To Go sets but prices and release dates are yet to be announced. For more information, visit the Elinchrom ScanLite Halogen product page.
