First Line Europe have confirmed their five-year partnership agreement with Paul C Buff Inc, Nashville, USA, (professional photographic lighting) is to cease with effect from the 31st January 2014.
After that date European customers will have to deal directly with Paul C Buff Inc, USA. This will necessitate customers paying freight costs for new equipment and repairs including warranty work. Details of which can be found on the Paul C Buff website.
In the USA and Canada, Paul C Buff Inc. deal directly with their customers, bypassing the dealership distribution route. It is thought that the European change is part of a rationalisation strategy.
They explained: “In order to serve customers located outside the USA and Canada we pursued relationships with international companies, allowing them to serve as authorised international dealers. Unfortunately, these relationships have ended as this method of sales was not cost effective to our customers and most importantly, kept us too detached from our customers.â€
The UK-based distributor said in a statement: “At First Line Europe we value your business and realise that these new arrangements may cause you some inconvenience. Therefore, although we are no longer able to repair your equipment locally, we will do everything in our power to help all customers that have purchased a Paul C Buff unit from us whilst your equipment is being repaired.â€
The range will include:
- a mains-powered studio flash unit taking Bowens S-mount lighting modifiers,
- a truly portable 600Ws studio light kit including strobe, battery, charger, transmitter and receiver contained within an aluminium case,
- a lithium battery powered manual speedlight kit incorporating HSS with transmitter and remote power control.
All the units are to be covered by a two year warranty and a peace of mind 60-day money back guarantee.
