Administrators have been called in for UK photographic distributor Johnsons Photopia.

Johnsons Photopia Group includes JP Services and JP Distribution. JP Distribution is UK distributor for familiar photographic equipment brands including BlackRapid, PocketWizard, Sekonic, Peli and FJ Westcott.

According to a statement posted on the company’s web site and Twitter account:

“The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the Joint Administrators, W John Kelly and Gareth Prince who were appointed as Joint Administrators of the above Company on 25 September 2018. They act as agents of the Company and without personal liability.”

Companies House records go back to 1941, and apparently roots of the company can be traced to 1743.

It is not clear what effect this will have on staff, or if the news will impact availability and support of any of the brands involved.

A representative for FJ Westcott told Lighting Rumours: “We’re excited to shift our attention and focus directly to the Top UK Dealers over the next couple weeks. This will mean we’ll be able to offer the most competitive pricing and maintain great presence in the UK.”

Other brands have been contacted for comment.
