Over time photo and video editing has become so rich with features, or complex, that takes quite a while to learn all the possible shortcuts in order to make your workflow more efficient. Even then, if you do manage to remember all the keyboard shortcuts they can still be hassle to enter. Some of them require that four keys are pressed simultaneously, not a task that is easy done on the fly. The man behind the SHORTCUT-S, Sorin Neica, thought that conventional keyboard shouldn’t be used for editing, but a dedicated keyboard instead. This is why he started the SHORTCUT-S Kickstarter project.
SHORTCUT-S is a special editing keyboard designed for most editing software, such as Photoshop, Lightroom and more. The Pro version of the SHORTCUT-S features 320 keys which are connected to start specific actions within the editing software. All keys have a icon on it to indicate the function that they activate. Their goal with SHORTCUT-S keyboard is to help you achieve a better understanding of your software skills and abilities, by concentrating on your creativity and stop losing your time while searching for all hidden functions. The question is if time is actually won, since it will take some time before one is able to remember the location of functions on the keyboard.
The Kickstarter project has 25 more days to fund it. At the moment of writing the SHORTCUT-S managed to collect $12,500 of the $50,000 target. It is possible to get your own SHORTCUT-S Pro keyboard for $129.
