Kupo introduces stackable Click light stands

Kupo's new Click light stands have a clever feature making them more compact than most for transport and storage.

Kupo’s new Click light stands have a clever feature making them more compact than most for transport and storage.

An interlocking mechanism lets you fold the stands flat and click them into one another. Both the long and the short sides can be used as mounting points, meaning that if you have four lightstands then you can create a 4×1, 2×2 or a 1×4 pattern. By attaching an optional shoulder strap you can transport one or multiple light stands together without having a dedicated bag.

The main advantage of these stands over more conventional light stands is that the way how they connect together saves space and makes it more convenient to transport. Two different sizes are available for purchase: Mini (7 foot) and Midi (8 foot), which cost $69.99 and $76.99 respectively.  The stand itself is constructed from an aluminium alloy which should be durable and light. It also features an air-cushioning system which prevents that your lighting fixture fall down quickly when the knob is not tightened properly.

Although Kupo claims that the Click is unlike any other stands in the market, this is not completely true. A few years back Manfrotto has released a similar system, albeit less versatile, in which stands could be locked together to form a single unit. Compared to the older Manfrotto stands the new Kupo Click lightstands can connect on both the long and short side, but in the end it remains the same principle.
