Elinchrom’s new high-capacity lithium battery pack for the Ranger Quadra RX is now shipping, say the Swiss-based lighting manufacturer.
If you’re using the Quadra pack-and-head flash system, you now have two different options: the lithium pack, which is smaller and lasts longer, or the old lead-gel pack, which is cheaper and gets you less hassle from airport security. With the new battery plugged in, the Ranger Quadra weighs about a kilogram and can give 320 flashes from a single charge.
You can pre-order the lithium ion Quadra battery pack for £300 from The Flash Centre. The lead battery, at less than half the price, will still be available for those who prefer it.
