LA LED Inc has failed to attract enough interest in its portable LED Kickstarter project, raising less than a third of the money needed for production.

The American lighting manufacturer launched a crowd-funding project last month for the ‘Lumenator’, a modular portable LED lighting system made up of stackable, colour-changing light bars. The product was to be aimed at “on-the-go photographers” not served by existing products on the market.

When the funding deadline passed last weekend, the community had pledged just $18,214, well short of the firm’s $60,000 goal. As the project missed its target LA LED will receive none of the money and the 72 ‘backers’ who promised to put money behind it will not be charged.
