Manfrotto has announced the Lumie Art, Play and Muse, three small LED lamps for stills and video lighting. The Lumie series are aimed at consumers, designed to be very portable and suitable for small cameras.
The Lumie Play, Art and Muse have three, six and eight light-emitting diodes respectively. All are battery powered (with about 60 minutes of runtime), with non-removable lithium batteries charged via USB. You can hold the Lumies in your hand, mount them on a hotshoe or to a standard tripod. The Lumie Play comes with a hotshoe mount, while the Art has a dual-use hotshoe/tripod mount and the Muse includes a ball-head.
Brightness is adjustable in stepless (Play), three steps (Art) or four steps (Muse) depending on which light you go for. Full output is respectively 220, 440 and 550 lux at one metre.
The default output is daylight-balanced 5600K, with a colour rendering index (CRI) of >92. Colour filters are available for warmer light, balance with tungsten/halogen fixtures or creative effects. You can stack up to three filters using the snap-on filter holder; the holder and some basic filters are included with each light.
The Manfrotto Lumie Play, Art and Muse are available now for £44.95, £69.95 and £99.95, with extra filter kits £12.95. Visit the Manfrotto web site for more information.
