Multiblitz, the German studio lighting manufacturer, have released the TriggerHappy wireless remote and promise their XSystem range of high speed flashes is “coming soon”. Both products were first announced at Photokina Cologne last year.
Trigger Happy
The Multiblitz Trigger Happy allows photographers to trigger and remotely control their lights from up to 60 metres away via 868MHz signal. Flash and modelling light power levels can be adjusted over sixteen distinct groups. Compatible lights include Multiblitz flashes from the Profilux Plus and X System series, which have receivers built in. The transmitter takes two AA batteries.
There is also an Easy Clip feature, for “effortless creation of clipping paths in any photo editing software”.
Officially released at WPPI in Las Vegas this February, the Trigger Happy is available online from Multiblitz USA for US$179.
X System
The Multiblitz X System is a range of studio monolights with the V-type accessory mount. Boasting high end specifications, the X System is designed for “sophisticated commercial photography” with flash durations as short as 1/6500 second and colour temperature accurate to within 50K.
There are three models, the X5, X10 and X15 with energy ratings of 500J, 1000J and 1500J respectively. The X10 is different from the other two, as it additionally features multi-voltage technology and the capability to run on Multiblitz Propac battery packs.
Other notable gadgets include an optical slave with red eye/i-TTL/E-TTL detection and a built-in wireless receiver compatible with the Multiblitz RS2 and Trigger Happy remotes.
