New metal Jinbei Discovery head can hold heavier accessories

The Jinbei DC-600's plastic flash head was incapable of supporting heavier light modifiers but now you can buy a stronger metal one.

One of the main criticisms of Jinbei’s Discovery DC-600 portable flash system is the plastic flash head, which is not strong enough to hold certain heavy lighting accessories, such as some beauty boxes or softboxes. This led some photographers to stick with the older, less advanced but nonetheless sturdier Jinbei Recharge Digital RD-600 kit.

However, the company has listened to customers and released the Discovery DC-600 Pro Head, which boasts a metal construction. All the benefits of the original standard DC-600 head are retained, such as the LED modelling lamp and Bowens S-fit accessory bayonet. What’s more, you don’t have to be a Jinbei Discovery DC-600 owner to use it, because the Pro Head is also compatible with the new Freelander FLII-500 battery pack.

Who will be interested in this new bit of kit? Location photographers looking for a powerful flash system that doesn’t break the bank, while accepting a wide range of light modifiers from the studio.
