Paul C. Buff, Inc. have published an update on the progress of the second version of their Parabolic Light Modification (PLM) system. The diameters of the new models have been confirmed as 51″, 64″ and 86″ (~ 130cm, 163cm and 218cm) featuring a 7mm umbrella shaft to permit use with Elinchrom lights.

No release date or product images have been issued yet.

7th July, 2010: We apologize for the continued delay in the availability of the Parabolic Light Modifiers.  With the improvements made to the design of the system, there have been unexpected delays from our new fabric vendor.   We regret that this has prolonged the backorder status and are continuing to work diligently to have the product ready as soon as possible. We have very strict quality control standards and are unwilling to ship any product that does not meet Paul C. Buff’s precise design.

PLM version 2 will be available in 51-inch, 64-inch and 86-inch sizes, still available in both white and silver. The version 2 will have a smaller umbrella shaft (7mm) to fit flash units by other manufacturers having smaller diameter umbrella mounts. Each PLMv.2 will also include a speedring cage assembly that allows exact centering of the umbrella on all Paul C. Buff, Inc. flash units or Elinchrom flash units.

As we have more information, we will continue to update this site as to when the products will be made available. We also hope to update this page soon with images and added description of the improved PLMv.2 design.
