For photographers needing a quick-draw flash trigger on a budget, the Phottix Ares flappy-paddle radio system has been released, at just over US$60 a set. Boasting a range of 200 metres, the transmitter will fold down out of the way when you want to stow your camera in a bag or simply concentrate on shooting. Then, when you need it, you can flip it up to check and change the channels.
The price is set at US$62.50 for a kit containing one transmitter and one receiver. Not the cheapest radio system on the market but it’s the only one we know of with a rotating transmitter. You can own your very own set by visiting the Phottix Store — where the Ares is in stock now — or your nearest dealer.
