Profoto Pro-11 is a $17k studio flash with built-in Bluetooth

Profoto has announced its latest pack and head flash system, the Pro-11, with integrated smartphone triggering.

Profoto, the Swedish lighting manufacturer, has announced its latest mains powered studio pack, the Pro-11.

This top-of-the-line professional flash generator boasts high speed flash durations, quick recycling and consistent colour, now augmented with Bluetooth wireless technology. The 2.4GHz Profoto AirX system allows users to control and trigger Profoto flashes from smartphones, and even synchronise with (some) handsets’ built-in cameras.

Most other specifications are similar to the previous generation (the Profoto Pro-10):

  • 2400Ws maximum flash energy
  • 11-stop power range, in 1/10-stop increments
  • Minimum flash duration 1/80,000 second
  • Wireless TTL and high-speed sync support
  • Recycle time of 0.02รขโ‚ฌโ€œ0.7 second (quick burst up to 50 fps)

The pack itself runs on mains power and has outputs for two ‘Pro’ type lamp heads, with maximum continuous output of 500 watts each.
