Set.a.light 3D, the lighting simulation software, now supports the use of hotshoe flashes in your virtual studio environment. With build 1.00.60, you can plan shoots involving a combination of mains-powered studio lights, camera flashguns, props and modifiers, all without leaving your desk or physically having access to real studio space.
The software doesn’t actually have profiles for all the different brands of speedlight on the market, so you are meant to input zoom settings and guide numbers yourself. Assuming manufacturers all subscribe to the same standards when detailing these specifications (*COUGH*) you should then be able to mix and match as many different makes and models of flashgun as you wish.
Speedlight support is enabled in the fully-featured set.a.light 3D STUDIO (€139.90) as well as the cheaper BASIC edition (€39.90). What’s more, all trial periods have been reset with the new update, so you can try before you buy. Visit elixxier.com for more information.
