Turn a diffuser into a snoot with Gary Fong SnootSkin

The latest Gary Fong speedlight accessories help you switch between filling a room and shining a very tight beam with your flash, as well as accepting colour filters.

Speedlight accessory maker Gary Fong has released the SnootSkin, a black insert that converts the company’s Lightsphere Collapsible flash diffuser into a snoot. This allows photographers to change the shape of the light produced from shoe-mount flashguns.

The Snootskin also accepts a honeycomb grid insert, to control the beam of light from your flash even further. You can add colour correction filters called “Color Inserts”; a half-CTO warming gel is included with the SnootSkin and additional colour filters are available separately.

Both the Lightsphere Collapsible and the SnootSkin fold flat for storage.

To attach the system to your flash, use the included Speed Mount, which is basically a hook-and-loop strap.
